Millions Watch Leaked Copy of Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey on X
After Christopher Nolan’s three‑hour epic The Odyssey premiered last weekend, a high‑resolution bootleg spread across X, amassing 2.1 million views in just a few hours before the account was suspended.
The film, shot entirely on 70mm IMAX cameras, was posted in full HD, defying standard copyright protections. Universal Studios immediately removed the clip and issued a takedown notice, asserting that piracy will not materially damage the film’s $640 million worldwide box‑office haul.
The incident raises questions about how future blockbuster releases can safeguard against rapid, large‑scale digital piracy, especially as studios continue to experiment with new exhibition formats and peripheral technologies.
