Controversial influencer Andrew Tate and his brother Tristan have been arrested in the United States following an announcement by British authorities that they are pursuing further legal action against the pair.

British Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) listed seven additional counts of rape for Andrew, alongside charges of sex trafficking and child pornography. Tristan faces one count of sexual assault, two counts of rape, and three counts of arranging or facilitating trafficking for sexual exploitation.

The alleged offences are reported to have occurred between July 2010 and August 2017. The brothers have consistently denied any wrongdoing in previous statements.

“These charging decisions followed receipt of a further file of evidence from Bedfordshire Police and bring the total number of alleged victims in this case to seven,” said Malcolm McHaffie, Head of the Special Crime Division at the CPS.

The U.S. Marshals confirmed the arrests were part of extradition proceedings, while a Department of Justice spokesperson said the moves were “pursuant to extradition proceedings.”

Prosecutors in Britain announced a list of 21 charges to be ultimately pursued in the UK; the offences described are said to have been committed between 2012 and 2016.
