In brief

Dubai Community Contributions Establishment (Jood) and telecom operator du received the Best CSR Initiative in the Middle East award at the Telecom Review Awards for their joint development of an integrated digital ecosystem that enhances community participation and ensures transparency in resource allocation. The partnership exemplifies a public‑private model that leverages technology to support Dubai’s social agenda.

Dubai Community Contributions Establishment (Jood) and the telecom operator du were named the recipients of the Best CSR Initiative in the Middle East at the recently concluded Telecom Review Awards. The recognition, announced on November 7, 2026, highlights the partners’ work on an integrated digital ecosystem designed to boost community participation, improve transparency, and streamline the allocation of resources for local projects.

The platform developed by Jood in partnership with du is described as a digital ecosystem because it connects multiple actors—individual donors, community organisations, and municipal bodies—within a single online interface. In plain terms, the ecosystem serves as a virtual marketplace where anyone can propose a community need, nominate a project, and receive real‑time updates on how contributions are applied.

Central to the ecosystem’s design is a data‑integration layer that aggregates information from different public and private sources. By merging donor records, project proposals, and municipal budget streams, the system reduces duplication and enables stakeholders to see the impact of every contribution in near real time. This kind of data interoperability, often referred to in the industry as a single‑pane view, is essential for ensuring that funds reach the intended beneficiaries without unnecessary bureaucratic delays.

Jood’s chief executive, Marwan Rashid bin Hashem, pointed out that the award underscores the role of technology in achieving sustainable social outcomes. He said:

"The award reflects Dubai’s leadership in developing innovative and sustainable models of corporate social responsibility and highlights the role of strategic partnerships in using technology to strengthen community participation and achieve sustainable impact,"

For du, partnership with Jood offers a chance to align its corporate social responsibility strategy with the city’s broader social agenda. The company has long operated a suite of digital services that facilitate public engagement, and the new ecosystem extends this reach by incorporating donor transparency and outcome tracking.

Hanan Ahmad, chief regulatory and shared services officer at du, emphasised the cooperative nature of the relationship. She said:

"The partnership represents an effective model of public‑private collaboration and demonstrates the importance of leveraging technology to enhance community engagement,"

She added that the combined technological and community expertise enables initiatives to reach target groups more efficiently, address identified priorities, and connect technological capabilities with actual community needs. The platform’s transparency features—like open dashboards for ongoing projects—help build trust between donors and recipients, fostering a culture of accountability.

In 2023, Dubai unveiled its Social Agenda 33, a strategic framework aimed at reinforcing social cohesion, environmental stewardship, and inclusive growth. The integrated ecosystem aligns closely with several key objectives of that agenda, including equitable resource distribution and citizen participation in societal decision‑making. By aligning contributions with quantifiable outcomes, the platform helps fulfil the agenda’s promise of measurable social impact.

While the award specifically recognises the technology partnership, it also speaks to a broader trend of integrating digital solutions into corporate social responsibility initiatives. The success of the Jood–du ecosystem indicates that when public entities and telecom operators collaborate, they can create scalable systems that not only improve efficiency but also democratise access to information and decision‑making.

As the Telecom Review Awards continue to showcase innovative CSR approaches, the Jood and du partnership stands out as a model for leveraging joint expertise to foster sustainable community development. By combining a robust digital platform with institutional support, Dubai demonstrates how technology can be a catalyst for inclusive progress and transparent governance in the Middle East.
